TED is devoted to ideas worth spreading, and TED2012 promises to be an extraordinary program. It is an assembly of TED’s most diverse group of speakers ever–a dazzling array of individuals united only by the fact that they have something remarkable to share, and an ability to share it in a remarkable way.
TED2012 Full Spectrum asks speakers to engage the senses in unprecedented, intense ways designed for powerful impact on the audience. Expect blizzards of images, new uses of music, extravagant use of under-utilized senses, choreography and interaction, animation, and riveting storytelling.
TEDxGrandRapids is hosting TEDxGrandRapidsLive, a TED Live event, on February 29. This livestream of the TED2012 program, projected on the big screen at the UICA Theater, is a chance for thinkers and doers in our community to share the day and explore our own experience of the “full spectrum.”

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com.
Inspired by TED, and independently organized by a group of Grand Rapidians who believe in the power of ideas to change the world, TEDxGrandRapids invites leading thinkers and doers to participate in an inspiring day of thought-provoking presentations, performances and conversations.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED established the TEDx program, where x=independently organized TED event, to enable individuals and groups around the world to curate, create and share share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
