Innovate: Clean Revolution
Today, there are almost seven billion people competing for our planet’s scarce natural resources. Yet, we have an unprecedented opportunity to create a world in which people not only subsist — they thrive. A clean industrial revolution will cut global emissions, provide clean energy access for all, and improve lives for generations to come.
Speaker Bio: Amy Davidsen is the U.S. executive director of The Climate Group (TCG), a not-for-profit organization working internationally with government and business leaders to advance the smart policies, technologies and finance needed to cut global emissions and unlock a clean industrial revolution.
Prior to joining TCG in 2009, Amy served as the first Director of Environmental Affairs at JPMorgan Chase where she focused on environmental global policies and procedures with regard to environmental and social risk management; business opportunities for the low-carbon economy; public policy dialogue on climate change; and the firm’s environmental footprint.
Amy’s more than 20 years of banking sector experience includes advising a range of clients on their diverse financial needs and philanthropic efforts specifically on the environment, micro-credit, human rights, and venture philanthropy.
In 1997, Amy facilitated a USAID job-creation loan program in Sarajevo, Bosnia. From 1988-1990, she was the Finance Manager of Women’s World Banking, an international microfinance not-for-profit dedicated to providing poor women access to credit.
Amy holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Brown University. She lives in New York City and is married with one son.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxGrandRapids, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxGrandRapids event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
