Epic fail now!

BILL SABRAM

Invention. Relationships. Games. Failure leads to new insight, new motivation and new learning. But what happens when failure loses its sting — as when every team receives a trophy — or failure is not an option and a single “B” grade destroys someone’s college dreams? We need to cultivate failure in our educational system and encourage students of all ages to move outside their comfort zone, try the impossible, and fail spectacularly. Lightweight games can help them do just that, and I’ll explain how.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.*
